That last point is what stumps me, Indy. Who would oppose it? Who would oppose a politician saying, "We're pulling out of Iraq/Afghanistan, and using all that money to fix our roads/bridges/etc." I forget what I researched about this years ago, but I think that we're spending enough over there to totally fix our infrastructure in something like 5-10 years. But, someone check my math on that.

I think it was pretty predictable, whether you buy into Keynesian economics or not, that being half a Keynesian wasn't going to remedy a major economic downturn. Obama has typically not had the cooperation from Congress to be able to do much but when he came in with a 75% approval rating and super majority, that stimulus was really his call and he did a very meh job.
