Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the bail-out money eventually paid back to the treasury.

These are two incredibly serious issues, one clearly undermines democracy in America, and the other all but ensures another financial crash, but unfortunately both stories will get buried by the torture debate, which is exactly what the politicians are hoping for. They know that while these items are high on their donors wishlist, they will be extremely unpopular with the general population, so they are hoping noone finds out until it is too late to do anything about it.
This is really US politics at it's absolute worst.
If the media was at all interested in serving the public, these two changes should be front page new, but they won't be, and the reason is quite simple. When there is more money in politics, who get's that money ? The answer is the media. Most of the money goes to buy campaign adds, so the media has a financial incentive to support money in politics, which they do by never reporting on the problems it causes.

I like Elizabeth Warren, but I think she's going to lose this fight.
She's absolutely right, and the American people would overwhelmingly agree with her, if they actually got a say in this, but the lobbyists are still going to win.
