yeah the Regular Army unit present at Sand Creek did not participate and in fact made the world aware of the atrocity. The massacre was carried out by militia units.

Reminds me of that dude during the Vietnam War. Saw what was going down in My Lai from the air, then started picking up civies and evacuating them. Even ordered his own dudes to open fire on Americans if they attempted to interfere.

Hugh Thompson was the pilot's name. He got a rash of shit for doing the right thing at the time. It only took the Pentagon thirty odd years to recongnize Thompson and his two crew embers after the fact.

I would LOVE to get high with Geronimo as long as he didn't scalp me, boil or burn me alive, throw me onto a cactus and cover me with honey, skin me alive or anything remotely resembling violence.
