It didn't work at all.
Cheney likes to claim that they kept America safe, but they did no such thing. Even if you give them a pass on 9/11, there were still far more Americans killed by Terrorists during the Bush administration than there were during the Clinton/Obama administrations.
It was a gigantic f**k failure.

It shows how sick our country has become and especially our media when a proven liar and sociopath like Dick Cheney is given airtime to recycle his lies.
The more his claims are debunked, the more defiant he becomes. A true sociopath.
Not only does he have Chuck Todd across the desk softballing him like he's Oprah interviewing Tom Hanks, on NBC Nightly News last night this was the lead story. Lester Holt must have said at least twice that Cheney "FORCEFULLY" countered the claims in the report, making it sound like Cheney had successfully countered the claims when in fact he did nothing of the sort. You wouldn't have known that from NBC's coverage, though.
All you have to do is consider the resume of Dick Cheney:
-9/11 on his watch, caught completely off-guard
-Invades Afghanistan where we STILL ARE, 13 years later--and for what? What was accomplished? But part of that is because...
-Invades Iraq by lying to everybody about how they're "partners" with AQ--a lie which he repeated yesterday
-Botches that invasion horribly, losing 4,400 American lives, maiming tens of thousands more, spends more than a trillion dollars doing it, and that's the low estimate
-His torturing ways are revealed to the world with Abu Ghraib, soiling our "good guy" image in the region (if it even existed) for decades
A abysmal, complete, undeniable record of total failure, incompetence and dishonesty.
So yeah, let's give him airtime to get his POV.
