Not sure how this makes politicians redundant. Students talking on Skype aren't going to write or pass any laws.

But, you are right in that it's a huge boon for information and cultural expansion. Although it'll be blocked in many of the more autocratic countries, the flow of ideals across national borders will be astounding.

I think Mr Shaman is proposing a world government of direct democracy conducting business over Skype. Sounds great.
