Not sure how this makes politicians redundant. Students talking on Skype aren't going to write or pass any laws.
But, you are right in that it's a huge boon for information and cultural expansion. Although it'll be blocked in many of the more autocratic countries, the flow of ideals across national borders will be astounding.

Interesting premise. And, here I thought that news anchors and reporters were the ones that reported whatever events they felt was newsworthy.
Looks like I'll have to subscribe to my Congressman's twitter feed to get the latest news from now on!
BTW, Shameman, you must get lonely being the only liberal in the world. At least, you seem to think that everyone else is a "conservative", even though both reality and statistics tell you that this cannot be correct.
