What all does that $2.7 million include and why is it so high? Because if it includes the Naval Station Guantanamo Bay Naval Station, those costs don't go away closing the detention facility. The Naval Station is a refueling point for our ships and was in existence long before Camp Delta, Camp Echo or Camp Iguana. If it includes the costs of building the facility including that wonderful soccer field, those costs don't go away either. Let's think about this from an accounting point of view, why is it so expensive to house detainees? I believe that we need to do some serious accounting on how this facility is run. Are we really paying salaries that high for the staff? If so, WHY? We have U.S. Marines there that can handle the job. I want someone to explain to me why there is no outrage over the incredible amount of waste, fraud and abuse that is going on at this facility. Or are we just inflating the numbers by including costs that have nothing to do with the detention facility to make it appear that it is more expensive than it is to house them?
