the event horizon telescope should be operational this year. it's using telescopic data from around the world to simulate a telescope the diameter of the planet to observe the milky way's event horizon (the black hole)

I would like to see scientific spending get an exponential increase. I view it as one of the most profitable and reasonable investments a government can make.

We can see all kinds of things we can't get to. Maybe someday, but I doubt anyone living now will get there.

I view government science and exploration spending as very nearly the only worthwhile things things they tend to get right. They are sending a climate observatory out to L1 in a couple of weeks, which is cool. I'm more interested in watching SpaceX deliver something way out into deep space, beyond the orbit of the moon, than in the thing itself, but that's just my own fanboy stuff.
