Well, i'm going to enjoy their own consultation on how to even do this is legal exactly. Under law, you can only strike in virtue of 'trade disputes'. There only real avenue to avoid this is going to be appealing to the nebulous EHCR, which, well.. good luck without the Labour parties support on that one. Which does not appear to be forthcoming.
Also their argument appears to be, "economic conditions are bad, your a bastard for not fixing it government' or 'the public sector has a right to remain at boom levels forevar!'
In short, unions vs. the rest of the country is what this is likely to turn out as, frankly. I think there going to be disappointed on how that turns out. Blowing their last political wad for 'Giv moar moniez' might very well herald the last gasp of the unions as a semi-credible force.
Why? Their argument boils down to their being a credible economic alternative. Whereas, the game plan would have been near identical under a labour government. Thus, labour are going to have to be very careful to avoid really going all in on this one as they are going to have to come up with more indepth 'postive' economic policies than 'I dunno, stop the cuts and stop VAT for a bit again, might work, I dunno".
