I think the us has pretty decent infrastructure. Raising the gas tax is a great method of funding infrastructure though, those who use it the most pay the most. I would like the U.S. do a better job with public transit. Cars are an incredibly inefficient and an incredibly dangerous way of moving people and goods/ services around. Our current transportation infrastructure shows that there is too much emphasis on individuality and privatization.

depends on where you are. in major cities the infrastructure is pretty good but mississippi has shit for roads, for example. and people love to bring up the bridge in minneapolis, but it fell because of faulty engineering

President Obama's plan is to seize money from US corporations using the IRS. This will make moves like Burger King's reverse merger with Tim Horton more appealing to a lot of corporations. Raising the gasoline tax? Sure, if they need more infrastructure money raising the gasoline tax makes sense. Yes, I know, roads and bridges are only one part of infrastructure. Want to have the best infrastructure in the world? Increase the gas price of gasoline for use in non-commercial vehicles to $10 per gallon with the additional tax money going to infrastructure projects.
