LOS ANGELES - Contaminated medical instruments are suspected in a "superbug" outbreak at a Los Angeles hospital that has infected at least seven patients, two of whom died. More than 170 others may have been exposed to the antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

If you wanna get really sick, visit a hospital. This is what happens when antibiotics are used unnecessarily. MRSA, new strains of tuberculosis, and many other superbugs. Doctors say it is going to get worse.

It's not just that, people over-using antibiotics.

It's also because the pharmas have ceased updating their anti-biotics because they're not anywhere near as profitable as medications that people have to take every day, like boner pills or diabetes drugs. With antibiotics you do one course and that's it.

So while the viruses continue to evolve, the antibiotics have not.

If this isn't the biggest disaster you can see coming from a mile away, I don't know what is. Frontline did a special on this.

But here in America we abhor the idea of playing anything safe, or taking action BEFORE a totally-preventable catastrophe hits.

It's got to do with overuse and what I just told you.

except that's not true. anti-biotic resistance hasn't been a serious issue until the last decade which means research wouldn't have seriously begun until about five years ago. we're just now starting to see results. there was a recent breakthrough in antibiotic research in fact.
