The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) reports 2.2 million people are in our nation's jails and prisons and another 4.5 million people are on probation or parole in the U.S., totaling 6.8 million people, one of every 35 adults. We are far and away the world leader in putting our own people in jail. Most of the people inside are poor and Black. Here are 40 reasons why.

This is just another article trying to disparage African Americans. I just don't understand what do they want. To provoke another racial conflict? Make hatred and anger an integral part of American society? Disgusting. It's not about color of your skin, it's about you choice. You decide - commit a crime or not. It doesn't matter are you green or purple. No crime, no jail.

This piece isn't disparaging black people. It's pointing out how systemic inequality makes them unfairly more likely to be imprisoned simply because of their skin color and where they live.
