U.S. Fighting For Iranian Militia in Iraq

WASHINGTON – “This is such an unbelievable betrayal of all those troops who were attacked, maimed and killed by these same Iran-backed Shi’ite terror militias in the 2000s.”
That was the reaction of Iran expert Clare Lopez to the news that U.S. forces in Iraq are now supporting Iranian militias.

This administration is making a mockery of our country. If we don't understand the region then we shouldn't bother with it. Such a mess, we are not able to handle it, how many more deaths do we need to understand it? We have to re-establish our standing in the world. Today's situation is really horrible. The price of electing a brilliant intellectual leader.

The troops who were attacked and maimed deserved to be. They were foreign invaders attacking a sovereign people for no reason at all. It sucks that they were put into a position where their deaths and injuries were justified morally and legally.

Similarly, Iran was right to lend a hand to Shia militias in the Iraqi Civil War. And now the US is right to ally itself with the Iranian-backed Shias in order to confront ISIS.

Your post is terrible.

SIgh. Welcome to the Middle East--where one day the guy you're shooting at is now the guy standing next to you shooting at the other guy.

We could have avoided all this had we not gone into this hornet's nest in the first place, and left things as they were, but nooooooo... President Cheney decided that what would compensate for his erectile dysfunction would be trying to ram democracy down the throats of those dirty brown people, because inside every towel-head is an American dying to get out. /:)

Here's the thing that nobody seems to realize--including Obama--but somebody put so perfectly: you can "train" the Iraqis all you want to fight things like ISIS, but why in the hell is a Sunni going to want to die fighting other Sunnis so that the Shiites can take over? Once you process that, you understand how FUBAR this has been from the beginning and yeah, if you're going to put money down on who in the region you're going to hitch your wagon to I'd certainly consider the Shiites, who aren't blowing up planes, beheading people, flying planes into buildings, setting off bombs on trains and, should they get nukes, absolutely they're going to use them on the U.S. homeland.

Not exactly a tough choice.
