Camping over the 4th is a great alternative and like you I never knew any vets who this bothered and if it did they never said. More of a it's my problem, I'll deal with it.

actually tried to write comments 2 different times to this,... too layered of a societal issue to summarize without writing a stupid amount.
1. Vets, now more than ever because of mixed media advertising campaigns feel that they're going to be owed ongoing recognition for signing up after they're discharged... and it's the opposite...
2. Vets come back with medical problems instead of recognition as parting gifts
3. The medical problems become the only leverage Vets have for getting public acknowledgement
4. The effort to get public acknowledgement becomes political fodder, the media gets to decide which medical problems are bad enough to actually complain about
5. Ugh

I like fireworks, so how about we stop manufacturing psychologically traumatized veterans?
