Hundreds of millions of American taxpayer dollars have been dumped into one Afghanistan health-care project, but the Obama administration cannot accurately locate 80 percent of the 641 medical facilities built in the endeavor, a special federal investigator says.

Using location information known as “geospatial coordinates” that the U.S. Agency for International Development, or USAID, provided for the audit, inspectors were directed to – among other unverifiable facilities – 13 sites that were not even within Afghanistan.

Indeed, the errant USAID-provided coordinates for one facility led to the Mediterranean Sea.

The United States is one of the few developed nations of the world that doesn't provide universal healthcare to its citizens. In other words, nearly every other country on the planet ensures their citizens not only have access to healthcare, they certainly don't go bankrupt or lose their homes because of the exorbitant costs Americans do. And we have sent more than $210 million dollars overseas. Great job, congrats!

If you're pissed off about 210 million for healthcare centers I'd avoid looking at the total figures for money spent on Afghanistan.

War and all its accessories are a black hole of funds disappearing. They count on apathy for it to continue, that means there is no end in sight.

One of the great ironies of both Afghanistan and Iraq that I pointed out endlessly was that you had two "conservative" leaders--Bush & Cheney--basically siphoning away trillions in U.S. taxpayer dollars to nation-build--which they would never do here because that's "socialism"--and try to do things like create a health care system for Afghans which, if done in the states, is apparently the second coming of Hitler.

They also worked tirelessly--and totally incompetently--to set up a strong central government, which according to them and their ilk is the root of all evil here. The ironies/hypocrisy were absolutely blinding.

Also wildly entertaining was the fact that literally nobody was watching where the money went or how it was spent--literally billions of dollars would just disappear, in an orgy of just-throw-more-money-at-it recklessness that for decades we'd been told was a staple of "liberalism."

We need to fix our shit before we fix their shit.
