Yes, a major issue of the civil war besides slavery was states rights, but...does it prove anything for you? I am better then you. That was just the mindset of humanity back then. Sometimes I think it still is.

All founding fathers were racists who hated Jews and Blacks. But it doesn't make them any less important for our history. Many things which were considered as completely normal a few centuries ago are considered as completely disgusting nowadays and vice-versa.
