I've been an NPR listener for almost a decade. I am not sure if the content has changed that dramatically or if I have but I can barely listen to it anymore. NPR is a bigger dumpster fire than the SF 49ers.

I liked NPR because it seemed to provide more serious content than most TV or radio based news. And sadly in many ways it still does, except with a bias that is so blatant it is practically unlistenable. I am not sure if it has been always this way or if I am now just seeing it clearer.

San Bernadino shooting - kept it under the guise of a workplace dispute until it was obvious that it was Islamic Terrorism, then pivoted the discussion quickly to gun control

Refugee Crisis - Completely ignored the US role in starting the crisis, instead only focuses on how refugees are revitalizing neighborhoods and how evil countries like Hungary are for not letting them in - http://www.npr.org/2015/12/02/458007064 ... ffalo-back

Marine le Pen - Frances FN is "disturbing" because of its "rightward shift" even though the FN is only right wing in terms of its immigration and cultural policies not economic

Safe/Spaces/ microagressions - They validate these concepts by talking about them, giving them airtime, and providing a sympathetic platform for that drivel

NPR is a complete dumpster fire of a news organization. I hope it is de-funded pronto and they all lose their jobs and have to work for a living for once. Discuss.

which local station to you listen to? that matters.

I dunno man I just googled some articles from NPR that contradicted most of the above, and writing a positive review of a TV show isn't bias.

i don't find their actual radio news bad. it's mostly the shit they have their interns write for their website and social medial.

Nothing amuses me more than people claiming that NPR is like the radio version of MSNBC. Funny, I listen to it regularly and I can assure you that is complete bullshit.

No, what we see here is more obsessive policing of "fair and balanced," where you're not allowed to criticize or if you do it must be immediately offset by criticism of "the left."

It all goes back to the idea that if you're anything but pro-Party, you're "biased." Naturally!

I'm not the biggest npr listener but I haven't heard them being particularly critical of the party system Indy.

I don't think they're anti party. It's not so much them pushing an agenda of promoting only two choices as reporting on relevant news given that this is the case.
