North Korea - why?

So, North Korea sentenced a kid to 15 years hard labor for trying to steal a propaganda sign. Yeah, it's harsh. Yeah, it's way overboard. Yeah, it's condemned by the world at large. Yeah, it's a tragedy.

But, North Korea is a dick. We all know that. Anyone who goes there HAS know that they could be accused of a crime for any reason, true or false. Why do we (society, families of those people, etc.) act surprised or think it's anything other than business-as-usual?

they are punishing him not for anything he did or didn't do, they are punishing him so that the united states will negotiate for his release and give them like a f**k of grain, even while they ratchet up their nuclear testing and their saber rattling

I'm having a hard time feeling sympathy for Americans who get screwed over in North Korea. There is a simple method to avoid getting eaten by the troll, kids: Stay out from under the f**k bridge!

You guys are pathetic. I guess our brave men and women who were killed, injured, or taken prisoner in Iraq and Afghanistan - not the mention Nam before that - don't deserve our sympathy because they shouldn't have been there. That's another discussion for another time. But any time an American falls into the clutches of a foreign tyrant, I know who I stand with.

Anyway, on the one hand, this is extreme, even for dick-ish North Korea.

On the other hand, who the f*** goes to North Korea on their own volition? And then attempts to pull off a frat prank? Seriously?

Anyway, he'll get released. Richardson will get him out. Then he'll be on the TODAY show, count on it.
