the money is part of a deal settling a debt going back to 1980. it wasn't even secret. they announced they were shipping the money when the deal was made. galt, prole supreme, naturally gobbles up the poorly researched gotcha headlines.

Who knows if there was a quid pro quo on this. The timing could be read to suggest it was an exchange or be read to suggest that Obama is intent on normalizing relations with Iran and is taking steps on multiple fronts to do so. No definitive evidence either direction so we'll probably all fill in what our preconceptions tell us and then move on lol

it's not 1980 anymore, ffs Iran needs to be brought back into the fold, if this is the best way of diluting their extremist government with Western cultural influence and helping the largely pro-American population assert more rights

I could care less what the money was for, I just care that we helped provide it in cash with no oversight. We literally have no idea what they are going to use it for.
