And this is why you never see anyone of political influence come from the University of Chicago (outside of a few economists). There are more subtle and nuanced ways to handle this menace, but of course that sort of political and cultural calculation is way out of reach for the aspies at Uchicago. By setting such a rigid stance on issues like this they negate the need for conflict and debate, and suffocate the voices of reason and leadership on both sides. Typical chicago school nonsense, a top down mandate that naively believes resolution to these issues can be mandated by the dean, rather than fought for by students and faculties alike. I dare say Uchiacgo has, and has always, represented the most totalitarian and inhumane tendencies in academic, cultural, and economic discourse.
