the phillipines are our former colony, and a country which we saved from brutal oppression. the president can and should pontificate from across the ocean on these things with them. duerte is also signaling wanting to leave the UN and maybe make his own place, with blackjack and hookers and china -- likely so he can get concessions from washington that would want to keep the phillipines around. concessions about killing all drug addicts

Frankly, I have no problem with us telling other people what to do. We have the money. We have the power. We have the influence. Yeah, it makes us hypocritical. So what? Every single one of us is hypocritical every day. I am a friggin' boy scout when it comes to business ethics - I won't break a law or even bend one, and can't abide by people who do. Yet, I get into my car on the way home and drive 90mph on the freeway.
