I take the ferry into Canada all the time. Sister in law lives in Victoria. Huge amount of ferry traffic on the Salish Sea.

there's plenty of ferries, and private ones, but they only exist if they are profitable

i take a ferry out to madeline island on the south shore of superior for example, which is private. but as for international crossings there's a dozen or so ferries, two of which originate in maine https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_C ... _crossings

but couldn't you just also drive to canada? it's not like it's far from you. why must it be on a ferry? where we could we have replaced the crossings with bridges if necessary

and cruise ships will go to other countries. if you want to go to iceland though, fly

I think they still have a ferry to France here as well, but I'm not prole enough to ever find out.
