Speculation about civil war, the military running another election, etc. reflects a fundamental misunderstanding of Republicans, Trump, and their motives. Trump is making fistfuls of cash off his morons right now, shifting efforts to a special counsel removes those funds from his control. Deploying the military or declaring martial law would result in the global economy nosediving into the worst economic depression ever - not something that Republicans will allow to happen. First and foremost the Republicans stand for profit, and nobody profits from any of that.

Everything he is doing now is an orchestrated series of dramatic acts intended to manipulate his morons into supporting him during the post-Presidency. It is literally all show. Don't worry about it.

He can do that without imposing martial law or talking about it. The reports suggest heavy resistance from other members of the admin.

While Trump is definitely a grifter he also will do anything to win. These actions would still be in line with his character. That should worry everyone.

the military doesn't support trump. as of august, before reports about how he thinks they are losers and suckers came out, before reports about how he wants to use them against his own people came out, he enjoyed a third of their support. and i'm sure most of those would be enlisted guys, people not known for their intelligence. the officers and especially the brass do not like him and would not betray their country for this.

when you enlist you sear "that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me". officers on the other hand make no such oath, their oath is only to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic" and makes no mention about obeying orders

also one firewall the military has is that trump can't replace people. even if someone resigns in protest, he can't put a lackey in there he has to find some ranking general in the military that supports president bone spurs. good f**k luck

whole thing is fantasy. the worst it will do is cause his followers to become domestic terrorists and kill people, but they were going to do that anyway tbf
