Movie did a good job of conveying the feeling of the book and followed it pretty true. Added a few parts that weren't exactly as in the book but mostly because the book was very subtle on the subject and it would have been difficult to convey the subtlety onscreen as written.
My only minor complaint is I wish they would have filled in the backstory on Pete's dad who committed suicide. The movie acknowledged that his dad had committed suicide... but in the book Phil (Cumberbatch's character) mercilessly harassed and belittled the father when Pete was young which ultimately lead to the suicide. It would have filled in a few more blanks about Rose Gordon (Pete's Mom) now married to George (Phil's Brother) fear of Phil and explain Pete's actions more fully.
Overall very pleased with the final outcome though I don't think the movie will appeal to a large swath of movie watchers.
