The article provided in the OP had a wide assortment of statistical figures, factual arguments, etc.
Those who replied with comments like "Boomers suck!" were indicating their agreement with the article, and the acceptance of those facts. Now you can make a decent argument that this sort of conversation is counter-productive... but the OP of that thread was not. In fact, it was excellent. I think that shutting down these topics isn't going to stop people from making blanket statements, especially when those blanket statements can and have been backed up by facts. You can certainly encourage people to be more civil about it, but ultimately, some generalizations are completely factual. The majority of Boomers support downloading the costs of their social programs to younger generations, all the while supporting politicians who will dismantle the things that enable the younger generation to pay for them (like education funding, health care, etc).
I urge you to reconsider. I won't bother you anymore about this, and I appreciate the hard work, I am just concerned that your actions may have been overly restrictive.
