Looks like I might really be the only person on the whole site who doesn't think this is a good idea. I still would rather just be barred from posting for a few days than indefinitely unable to participate in live discussion with other posters who are online at the same time as me.
Maybe that's the point though.

so it's kind of like a ban with the ability to prove you can come back? that's a pretty solid way of doing things. puts the responsibility of being here squarely on the poster.
