I don't see a problem with new people starting threads, assuming those threads meet the guidelines of the site.
If your goal is to increase participation, why remove the means of initiating participation?

If someone makes a thread that gets over 100 replies, it means there's more participation, even if the OP isn't the one participating. It's a good thing still.

Yeah, I don't see the problem. We want conservatives to come here and start stupid threads. PCF loves a circle jerk and the post numbers reflect that.

If our forum was attracting a lot of new members, I wouldn't be opposed to such a requirement. As things are, I think we should make it as easy as possible for new members to participate.

Well, look at someone like NorthernFront. He started out by making a thread, and he's participated in them since. And it's not like some dude posting a thread and disappearing is harming the community - it is at least generating some discussion, and that's a good thing. Hell, here we are.

Okay, I see the error of my ways but if I post a thread and never return to defend the positions stated, I certainly don't expect to hear calls for my banishment by this group of users.
