You are all hopelessly wrong. The best fighter was the de Havilland Mosquito, AKA 'The Wooden Wonder'. This plane was more than just a highly successful interceptor, night/escort fighter however, it was also an excellent light bomber, ground support and photo reconnaissance plane that could fly faster than most German interceptors tasked with shooting them down. I would suggest that it was actually the best and most versatile plane of the entire war, and is unfortunately under-rated considering its importance and performance...
