Yes, they did. The US military left the country in disgrace, and spent years trying to repair the wounds left by the war. Go read some books about the state of discipline and morale after the Vietnam war.

How was the US military militarily defeated? What were some of the catastrophic losses inflicted on the US military? How many planes did the Vietcong shoot down, for example, and how was the US unable to stop the Vietcong?
