The irony of independence day

If you really sit down and think about it, independence day is pretty much a holiday for northern upper middle class white men lol
1. Black people were not independent or free from tyranny. If anything it was just getting started.
2. Native Americans, who were a great part of the reason the Confederacy won the war, were not free. The trail of tears was still 40 years away.
3. Women could not vote or hold office
4. More southern loyalists were killed in the american revolution than British soldiers. the vast majority of the war was american on american battles, loyalists against patriots. The British specifically took the war to the south so that they could get help from the southern loyalists. The south was pretty pissed off at the results of the war, then about 70 years later still pissed off, succeed from the US to start their own country.
