in other words the traditional american view is that the introduction of landed property was interference in an individuals natural rights.

In other news, Norway had managed it's oil profits so well that they are now capable of completely funding their government for forty years, with no taxes whatsoever.
This sort of program should have been long ago established in the West. Oil and gas and our natural resources belong to everyone, and a reasonable amount of money should have been set aside and allowed to grow in exchange for the rights to extract it.
Combined with a guaranteed minimum income, we could make our economy competitive again, while driving growth and setting money aside to pay for any mistakes along the way.
