Unless your kid is just a rebellious little crapper, you should instill enough foresight and goals in your child prior to college that they think long and hard about what will provide a reasonable future.
Push your child to take pre-AP science, math, and English classes. Don't let them load their high school schedules with blow-off electives. Etc.

my best friend, who actually is an extremely talented pianist, got a degree in music theory as well as business administration. all in all about 55k worth of debt.
not only can he not get a real job he's flat broke all the time from paying back loans. and he's having to pay them back while working at a gym full time beucase he can't find a music gig.

If my son majors in a course I approve I will help him out financially, if he wants a major I dont like he's on his own.
