Should we rethink equality?

I'm not a fan of trying to break up families into individuals for the purpose of enforced equality. Why should a family not work together to create better lives for each other? Why is this unfair?

I would rather see society trend towards people taking care of each other voluntarily than to see enforced equality of means across the board.

I'm on board with equality of opportunity (a side-effect of maximization of competition which is necessary for a healthy capitalist system). But the end result should be based on how people take on that opportunity.

If your parents worked hard to leave you something, then it wasn't up to you in the first place. Same as if they left you nothing or bills to pay. You won't see the equality police running up to help you out with those bills.

Your parents earned the right to leave it to you to enjoy. They earned the right to the comfort and satisfaction it gave them to do so.

It's already paid for.

No one has a right to any of it unless you want to share it with whoever.
