I'm one of those rural statistics from the southwest myself. A dad, and shotgun married when we were 19. I wish we would have been smart about it, for my wife's sake. She's a great mother, and been solid these last 15 years. I owe that woman more than I could ever repay.

I hear you. I can only hope my kids learn from the hardships that their mother, and I went thru. The best we can do is to be honest, and upfront with them, and remember that we were young and dumb ourselves. I don't hold anything against well intentioned people that want to break this cycle that creates so many shitty lives, and broken homes.
