the ITER project should have plasma in 2020 and deuterium-tritium reactions by 2027. it is designed to use 50 MW of power and output 500 MW. this is mainly just for demonstration purposes though, as, while impressive, it's 1/4th the output of hoover dam at peak. and it's costing seomthing like €16billion, with the us chipping in 9% of that (its located in france)
