Nah - it'd never happen.

Like I often say, I have certain "ideals", but I'm a realist. While I would love it if "states rights" were advanced (queue the "he wants to bring back slavery" arguments), I realize that it won't happen in any meaningful way. I'd rather win a battle not of my choosing than lose one that I picked.

Having read through this conversation I have just a little to say . (1) I feel like I just strolled into a meeting of the evangelical secular-humanist revival movement . (2)The Founders ( my ancestors just six or seven generations back) had no intention to relegate general Christianity to the dustbin of history . They were anxious to make sure that no single institutionalized tradition could lord it over any other . Right after signing and implementing the Bill Of Rights they turned right around and implemented a bill to set aside land in the Ohio Territory to establish public schools and provided that the Bible be used as the study text with government funds ; there was no dispute that the Bible represented the establishment of religion . (3) The current public (coercive state , on the model of the Kaiser's mind and thus popular culture control system as implemented by progressive Dewey) school system universally imposes the religion of Darwinist Secular Humanism on the entire American population in total disregard of the First Amendment . (4)The Ten Commandments were the basis of ancient Hebrew law but things changed after the Jews , after many had become followers of the Christ ,the ones who had not recognized Him as the promised Messiah and were subsequently murdered in mass after revolting once again from the pagan Roman rule , reconstituted Judaism based on worship in synagogues rather than the lost temple and more rabbinical creative interpretation .(5)I thought all the talk of wasps , was a passing phase among the learned dilettante father is a rich lawyer class in highschool fifty years ago , but there seems to be a revival of sophomoric generalization from a progressive-hate targeting perspective .(6) There is no mention of "separation of church and state " in the Constitution but the founding document and founders intent clearly firmly established a Separation of healthcare , transportation , farm , labor , industry , science ,national control of education , charity and multiple other transgressions of the law and State .

Secular humanism is a religion? With all due respect, that is ridiculous. Humanism calls for empirical and rational thought. That is like calling mathematics a religion.

Even the Supreme Court has recognized secular humanism as having a standing in law similar to established and less organized versions of religion (belief) .
