Barring a MASSIVE policy change on the part of republicans
Hilldawg will clean up in 2016 and by 2020 demographics will have turned Texas into a swing state, 2024 it will be blue. No way the republicans ever muster 270 electoral votes with texas up in the air. Also, 2 terms for Obama and 1-2 for Hillary will make the courts Blue for the next half century.
Conservative parties have a history of dying out and unless the republicans radically change their platform and out lib the dems (kind of what the dems did to the republicans early in the century), the first half of this century will see democratic dominance similar to 1800-1836.
HTH.

I basically agree with your loose demographic analysis. Such analyses were being presented during the '08 election. The GOP, in order to remain a viable party in the long-term, simply must alter tactics and course lest they never know governorship again. I'm personally perfectly content with the latter scenario.

I think the problem with the GOP is their social issues moreso than their stance on economics and "big government". I think you're pretty much spot on with the way the trend is going to go in the next decade and beyond. The GOP is going to have to open up and stop being so draconian on issues like gay marriage and pornography. No one is asking them to participate in these things, only that they need to realize that everyone has their own personal preferences and private/personal matters really aren't of the concern of the government as long as no one is being hurt by it.
The GOP can still be conservative and lead by example and if they did, they'd likely gain a LOT of voters. Granted, they have a long way to go but I really feel that if they shifted their stance from "hater" to "apathetic", they'd probably gain ground, and quickly.
I mean just look at things now - people deep down know Romney isn't the answer. But they just don't want to see Obama and the Dems spending going on for another 4 years.
