Lord knows a guy/woman like that would never make it through a primary, though. We should have a jungle primary for the Presidential election. Just put everyone and their uncle on the ballot, the top 2 go to a runoff. Get some quality middle-of-the-road candidates.

I wonder how the left and right would manage to cope with a social liberal fiscal conservative candidate. Heads would explode. Even the faintest whiff of moderation gets any GOP candidate labelled a RINO. Democrats might have better luck, honestly, considering how much goodwill Bill Clinton (arguably an old school Republican in a great many ways) still garners. When you consider Reagan, you realize he would be called a RINO and smeared out of contention here in the 21st century. So I dunno.
