Why the hell would candidates always present themselves as Washington Outsiders? We're not having a revolution, so everyone they'll be working with are Washington Insiders. Washington outsiders are not immune from corruption or being wrapped up in the system once inside Washington. Wouldn't we want someone who has been in Washington and have been fighting against corruption from within?

people have a love-hate relationship with politicians. by being an outsider they are possibly not as corrupt as the rest of those idiots (except for your guy, naturally). people also red tape and the process itself as being a hurdle, and when someone comes from the outside they'll shake it up

They also want us to think they grew up in a log cabin their daddy, the Blue Collar Hero, built with his own two hands.
Its just another horseshit phrase.
