again, she didn't discriminate on homosexuals. she served homosexuals. please stop conflating these things as they are different. she discriminated against same sex marriage, and entirely novel concept that most people in the world think is disturbing, and, more over, something that proponents of which have repeatedly said it does not harm to regular people for same sex marriage to exist. she did not want to be party to this abomination, and yet you think it's best if she is forced to help create this unholy thing

If you could just vote individual rights away it would become totally possible to simply make homosexuality illegal and punishable by death through a vote, so perhaps you should rethink that.

It's just better for everyone to have equal protection and the same rights. The world will survive if this couple has to get their wedding arrangements from another florist. It might not if we just throw out everything we have used to get to this point.

X, I believe we can can realize human liberation. By being vigilant on all fronts for efforts to suppress and exploit humanity. We are just now learning to understand how the human social process works, and the result is the potential for a level of collective self consciousness that has never before existed. Add that knowledge to advances in communications and the potential exists to create a rational mass movement that could far exceed the progressive movements of the past.

I think if we can get away from market based/classist societies a lot of the incentive for most contemporary negative social attitudes would rapidly evaporate. There is definitely a link between that social pattern and a whole host of societal and individual behavior problems. For example the first division of labor leading to the partition of society into a ruling class and a subservient class were gender roles and those have been with us for a long time, probably since the beginning. Sexism still exists and it was as recently as 1975 (Taylor v. Louisiana) that women weren't allowed to serve on juries in the US. They weren't considered peers. Now just a few years later that sound barbaric to most people.

So yes, the task is monumental, but not impossible. If we can overcome human sacrifice, cannibalism, and slavery we can overcome state capitalism and privatization.

The attitudes and behaviors that allowed those ancient social ills are no longer present in the social consciousness. Likewise the attitudes that engender the social ills of today will be alien to the societies of the future. These traits aren't inherent, they are learned so what we have to do is take real responsibility for eliminating human need. The social transformation from that point on will be rapid.
