Anyway I think the state of mind of these individuals should be the focus of our investigations into this phenomena. The presence of firearms does not influence this so much, however the content of video games and movies do have an undue influence on public perception.

Is the violent content of our media creating a more violent society? That's what we should be looking at. These mass shootings are actually a 1st amendment issue, not a 2nd amendment issue.

Media exposure has an objectively measurable result. Advertising works, for example. Doesn't it stand to reason that there can be inadvertent social effects as well as the intended effect of selling products due to our media content?

No one would ever suggest that advertising doesn't influence public perception, after all. Perhaps violent medias content has the same measurable effect on violence in society?
