this is the new normal for weather because of climate change.
they're already calling a possible green christmas again in upstate new york. ridiculous.

I'm feeling for Nawlens. God it would suck if they got smacked again. Hopefully the ACoE hasn't been sitting on rebar and rotating this whole time.

It might really be time to consider abandoning the city. The 'culture' and 'we didn't abandon San Francisco' arguments don't really stand up if this is just going to keep happening every handful of years.

Well so far it hasn't gained near the strength that Katrina had but it's path is almost identical. Katrina was already a Cat 1 working on Cat 2 at the same location if I remember correctly. Katrina grew to a Cat 5 by the time it hit landfall.
We'll know probably by sometime tomorrow afternoon how serious it is. There's a chance it won't grow that much in strength and just be a really wet Cat 1 or 2. Today will be the key if it grows a lot or not.
