How in the hell would they make voting mandatory? I can't even fathom what kind of enforcement mechanism they could use that wouldn't cost us ridiculous amounts of money or waste even more of our time as citizens.

I'd be in favor of it here. Canada already has a national electoral agency, we already require preregistration and identification, so the logistics would be super easy for us.
In the States, I imagine it being a nightmare to implement across all 50+ systems.
