They don't have a plan. The only thing they have is a hatred for Trump. If Trump does ok, they (Dem's) are pretty much done.

For me, if it works I'm fine with it. You have to pick your poison -

Risk not winning either chamber of congress to honor local campaigns and thus allowing Trump to run unchecked for the rest of his term (and anything else the GOP wants to pass) or...pursue a strategy that you think will cement a victory necessary to gain that check on his power (as the GOP continues to abdicate its duties).

With the DCCC's track record though ala 2016 it should give everybody pause.

He supports tuition free public colleges, Medicare for all, and a big investment in green infrastructure.

Kane, I'd like you to consider that all these conventional nuggets of wisdom that you never think critically about regarding how moderate voters won't support progressive ideas....is really about how donors don't like those ideas. The progressive candidates are the more potent ones who can actually flip districts. It's the bland centrists who appeal to literally no one and are slaves to Trump's popularity or lackthereof. Those same people won't even serve as a check on Trump should he somehow get his negatives down. They'll support him cause they stand for nothing but expedience. That combined with the fact that they have a worse shot at winning the general in the first place makes this....not a wise strategy.

Kane, they endorsed Bryce because he had all the momentum going for him and is already a favorite for that district. This is a cute little trick to give people like you a little ammunition to say "Now hold on a minute, sir!" when people make the obvious observation that the DCCC is working to stamp out progressive candidates with popular support around the country in districts that could actually have competitive primaries. If you don't agree with this, then explain to me why they think that a district in Wisconsin which has been held for 20 years by a Randian psychopath is the kind of place where progressives can win, but think that people just won't go for leftist ideas in so many other districts. What was the calculus in Wisconsin's 1st that just doesn't apply nearly anywhere else?

Or you can acknowledge that they neglected that district until Bryce had undeniable momentum and therefore they hitched their horse to a progressive wagon in a district they didn't even bother to invest in early on - but that just further proves how ridiculous this whole notion is.

I should also mention that these Centrist Democrats - the ones who are basically worthless because they run away from anything remotely progressive at the first sign of danger - are also the first to go when Democrats are facing a tough election cycle. The reason why is not because they're in more conservative districts, but because they stand for nothing and to their constituents, they are nothing but the (D) next to their name. As generic empty suits, they come into office on a wave of dissatisfaction with Republicans, and are kicked out immediately with any bit of dissatisfaction with the Democrats, because their districts don't see them as anything but a generic politician carrying the Dem banner. Meanwhile, the ones who actually believe in something and build strong connections to their constituents through their ideas about public service tend to have longer careers because the other party can't just make you a stand in for Pelosi or whoever when people in your district actually recognize you as being your own person who stands for something more than your party affiliation.
