Korean demilitarizing progress - Good for Asia and Earth

Two Koreas, U.N. forces agree to remove weapons at border. North and South Korea and the U.N. Command agreed on Monday to withdraw firearms and guard posts in the demilitarized zone village of Panmunjom this week, Seoul’s defense ministry said, the latest move in a fast-improving relationship. The two Koreas have been removing landmines around the area as part of the agreement and they confirmed the completion of the demining operation at the talks with the UNC.

Trump will get no credit, and that's okay. The two Korean governments need to be the spearhead anyway. It's their peace to make and keep after foreign UN forces leave the demilitarized zone for good. I would think some US facilities will be asked to remain in other parts of the country.

Galt probably has a better handle on the US Naval side of the future support role we play if any. Our static aircraft carrier Japan is just across the way in any case.

trump deserves no credit. He's been the most counterproductive player in that arena for decades. There aren't many examples of a US president so completely scratching on a denuclearization effort. Kim got everything that the DPRK has been lusting after for half a century. We got nothing at all. Relations between North and South improving has been going on in fits and starts for 40 years at least. The notion of pinning any of that on trump against the facts of the matter is exactly the sort of false self-promotion trump supporters are so dimwitted as to be conned into falling for over and over again.

Failed on nuclear talks and still rolling in humiliation? Let's cheerlead the the removal of now obsolete conventional Cold War era weapons in the DMZ instead. The mouthbreathers will be suitably impressed. lol right?

Nice gesture. I imagine the regime rightly views their real deterrent (nuclear warheads) secure, so no risk in this for Kim and upside if it gets them closer to the economic progress Kim needs to mollify the wealthy.

Risk for us is we fall for the game and give them what they need, losing leverage for the only discussion that matters. Nuclear weapons.

I will give Trump some credit, but most of the credit should go to Moon Jae-in. This process started during the Olympics and would have continued with or without Trump. Maybe he’s helped push with his showboating, so good for him, because every little bit helps.

He will try and take ALL the credit though. Guaranteed.

Pretty sure this happened despite Trump not because of him. This is all Moon taking the reigns as the US either tries to make fait accompli or pulls back from a given region altogether.
