like obamacare, no one knew what they were signing when they signed the patriot act. i agree with pelosi that laws would need to be implemented before we grok the full horror of what was passed, they are just so massive with so many pieces its hard to see them in context with everything else.
now it's implemented we can see the folly of government having broad authority intrusive on citizen's lives. instead of taking the opportunity for criticizing people and calling them hypocrites for their initial support, you should be applauding them for changing their minds once they realize what they wrought. it's just another example of extreme huge pieces of legislation that no one reads and is incomprehensible to read even if you tried (unlike all the states outside of massachusetts, they only do things like "replace the word "the" in the second sentence of XX statute, whereas most everyone just republishes the entire section so you can see it in context. this is why it's nearly impossible to read US federal laws) and why we need to pare back this out of control federal government
yeah the one guy introduced it. that means nothing and we all know that. and also in his defense he says that it's not legal under the patriot act
