I find that to be highly inaccurate. We have been just as violent, if not more violent. The difference is that we're engaged in small scale wars and police state action, instead of giant bloody battles between world powers. The violence has shifted arenas, but it's still there and still prevalent. But, the violence has shifted away from religion and into policing and enforcing laws. At least in the West. Everywhere else it's still solely attributed to religion.
And you can't attribute a lull in violence with people just being tired of fighting solely. It's a lot more complex than that. And I think both Comrade and my assertion is a better explanation. With rational thought came "oh, skin color doesn't mean they are less superior", and other things which helped to lead to a reduction in overt war. Recognizing equality, women's rights, racial rights, etc... was a direct result of enlightenment principles. Religion has and will always impede these things.
