Amazing, isn't it? This entire "scandal" was completely contrived, and even when that is discovered there are no consequences.

In most modern societies if you were discovered pumping a fraud to inflame people, you'd lose your job as a leader.

In most modern societies if you were a "journalist" and pumped this "scandal" for months without looking into it, you'd lose your credibility.

Neither happens here anymore and, even more bizarrely, even when people find out that it's bogus they still refuse to let go. Or it's just onto the next fauxrage, served up by FOX/Drudge/Breitbart.

As G5000 used to call it, Henrietta Syndrome: roughly described as people being duped are shown literally the trick and they still refuse to believe it's not real.
