Lifespan of solar panels is approximately 30 years.

Well, it is obvious that The Comrade did not watch the short video nor has he thought the problem through.
The cost is much lower than current fission nuclear power plants. These new plants are way safer in all respects. The most interesting function is that they are but a stop gap measure that are safe, affordable, and available to use now, while in the next 30 years or so the holy grail of energy, fusion energy is developed.
We had a saying in the Marine Corps, "Don't make better the enemy of good enough".

If the government runs it or puts money into it, it will not be cheap in any way shape or form.
Government run anything never produces what it should for what it says.
