Also, once again, Islam is a group of over a billion indivduals representing thousands of very diverse cultures. The EDL are small group of lumpenproletariat street thugs and a few misantropic hangers on.

They are a racist far right pressure group consisting for the most part of racist skinheads and football hooligans. What possible motivation do you think they have? Tommy Robinson is not even the guy's real name.
If you think they are trying to do something positive, well, you're dumb. They don't give a shit about saving England or whatever nonsense they are spouting. they are trying to build a political base from the dregs of society.
Why would someone try to do that? You don't exploit xenophobia to do something rational like protect the environment or to ensure equal pay for women. If you can't understand that I don't know what to tell you.
