That particular market control you are bitching about is merely one of a host of many that are inherent to particular mode of production and distribution.

If it's that one particular control you don't like but are fine with the rest of them then your point sort of makes sense, even though it would then be of no consequence.

However, from the standpoint of a proponent of individual autonomy and decentralization it makes no sense whatsoever. Market regulation is the main function of centralized authoritarian state structures. Control of markets=control of society, so unless that factor is removed from the equation ie we adopt a system other than market distribution human individuals will be locked into a system of production roles determined by class association forever.

In short, that means you will have to keep driving your prole car.

I found out about this last week when North Carolina played with the idea of banning the sale of Teslas out-right, nice little example of corruption in action.

well to be fair, most of the time the dealer does do servicing on the vehicle before selling it

for example when i got my bike the other day, i had to wait a few days because they hadn't serviced it: they had to charge the battery, fill the fluids, etc.

that said, i don't see why they shouldn't be able to sell directly, but manufacturers don't have the people to sell directly and i doubt the desire to do so (then they'd just be another dealer). dealerships are spread far and wide, able to service the vehicles after shipping, while plants are few and far between

The American automotive industry has developed symbiotically with government. I love what Tesla is doing but they can't fight a war on two fronts. The fact that they are trying to inject ethics to the practice of selling cars is crazy enough. Changing the method in which they are selling as well is an impossibility. When you buy a car, you can barely call it your own property with the vast range of qualifications it must begin with and adhere to throughout its life.
